Graffiti removal off Shire assets is managed by the Buildings Maintenance team.   However in the past 12 months, this has been extended to removing graffiti off private property.

Please see below for how this is managed: -

  • Graffiti on Shire assets that has been reported via our Snap, Send Solve App or directly reported via Customer Service is removed within a 5 working day timeframe, unless it is offensive which then has a response time of 1 working day.
  • If graffiti has been reported on a fence which is on private property, a consent form will be sent out for the occupier/owner to complete and return.    The Victorian Graffiti Prevention Act states that we cannot remove any graffiti on private property without a consent form.
  • Graffiti that has been reported on Commercial Properties is the responsibility of the Property owner.  However, the exception to this is, if it is on a wall in a public laneway or offensive, then we will remove.
  • Graffiti that has been reported on telegraph poles, NBN pillars or any electrical meter boxes that is not a Shire Asset, we unfortunately cannot remove.   However this information is lodged with the relevant Supply Authority for them to remove.   We continue to collaborate with all of the relevant supply authorities to improve their response times.
  • Pre/Post photos of the graffiti is taken by our Graffiti removalists and the data we store is instantaneous.   Any ‘graffiti tags’ are shared with the Victoria Police which they incorporate into their broader Victoria Police Database to enable them to track these tags and hopefully catch the offenders.
  • Approximately 30 % of the total amount of graffiti on the Mornington Peninsula Shire is proactively removed from public spaces minimising the targeted areas so vandals are discouraged to reoffend.

Once again thank you for your email and for reporting any graffiti that you see to the Shire Council, it is greatly appreciated.
