About Nepean Ratepayers

Established in 1976, the Nepean Ratepayers Association Inc (originally known as The Collins Riding Ratepayers Association) is a local group with more than 30 years input in local issues within the Nepean Ward (Blairgowrie, Sorrento and Portsea). It is the voice of the community with the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council and its officers and supported and strongly endorsed Tim Rodgers in his election campaign as the Nepean Ward Councillor.

The Association has close consultation with the Nepean Conservation Group (www.nepeanconservationgroup.org.au), Nepean Historical Society (www.nepeanhistoricalsociety.asn.au), Virtual Sorrento (www.virtualsorrento.com.au) and Sorrento Portsea Chamber of Commerce  on important issues such as local planning problems, traffic management, events and other relevant community matters.

The Association's Executive Committee meets at the Sorrento Community Centre. The AGM is held in February/March at venues within the Nepean Ward with guest speakers whose topics are relevant to local community interests.

The Purposes of the Association are:

1.  To champion the interests of Ratepayers and Residents of the Nepean Ward on
issues affecting their way of life.

2.  To safeguard and promote enhancement of the natural environment, residential amenity
and recreational assets of the Ward.

3.  To challenge any proposed inappropriate development

4.  To ensure the needs of visitors are recognised.

5.  To support for election to Council candidates whose views are consistent with those of
     the Association.

The three main sub-committees of the NRA are:

Blairgowrie Action Group

Portsea Village

Sorrento Township

We strongly encourage you to become involved with the group in your area.
